Every teacher working in a Tasmanian school must hold current registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Tasmania under the Teachers Registration Act 2000 (Tas). It’s an offence to employ an unregistered teacher in a teaching role, and the employer must confirm registration before a teacher starts.
Registration runs on a five-year cycle, but the annual fee must be paid by 31 December or registration lapses automatically. Provisional registration can’t be renewed, so provisionally registered teachers must move to full registration within their first five-year cycle.
On our monitored plans, we monitor the register every month and alert you to a lapse or a new condition, including for teachers already on staff. On the Verified plan, it’s a point-in-time verification you can re-run whenever you choose.
