COMPLIANCE VERIFICATIONS

Employment Background Screens

There are two things no government register can tell you about a candidate: are they who they say they are, and what they were like to work with.

Everything else rests on these two

A police check, a licence or a qualification verification are all statements about a named person. If the name is wrong, so is everything attached to it. Accurate Identity verification is key to KYP and Kinatico does it to Police Check levels.

References are the opposite kind of evidence. No register holds them, no API returns them, and they are the one part of hiring that still runs on someone else telling you what you can’t read in a resume. They are also the part most likely to be skipped when a role needs filling quickly.

Verifications in this category

Phone tag is the reason references get skipped

The standard process has not changed in thirty years. A recruiter emails a referee, the referee is in a meeting, the recruiter calls, the referee calls back after hours, and somewhere in the middle the candidate accepts another offer.

ChatRef sends the request and runs the conversation with the referee directly, at any time that suits the referee, asking questions appropriate to the role. The answers come back as a structured result rather than a set of notes, which means they can be compared, stored against the worker, and produced later if anyone asks how the hiring decision was made.

Document, then face

A document verification answers one question: is this document real, and does it match what the issuer holds. We check identity documents against the Australian Government’s Document Verification Service to establish that.

The biometric identity verification answers the second question. The candidate takes a live selfie and we match it to the photo on their ID, which ties the person in front of you to the documents they have supplied.

IRIS, our Intelligent Reader & Input System, reads the document and pre-fills the fields, so there is far less for the candidate to type and far less to get wrong. Where something needs a human look, a person takes the look.

Frequently asked questions

  • A commencement document such as an Australian passport or birth certificate, a primary document such as a driver licence or proof of age card, and a secondary document such as a Medicare card, plus a photo. Our identification requirements page sets out the details of what they need before they start..

  • Referee name, job title, email and phone number, their own start and end dates at that job, and their relationship to the referee. More than one referee can be added.

  • Yes. Candidates complete verifications through the same experience as workers, and requirement invitations can be sent before a candidate is hired.  That allows requirements to be run as part of recruitment process rather than after an offer is made.

  • They will be asked for Change of Name Evidence. It is worth telling people up front, to add in any names they have used or been known as like a maiden name for example. This is the one of most common reason a verification stalls.

  • No. Candidates upload and control their own documents. Only the result comes to you, and you keep the result even if you leave us.
