Under the Education (Queensland College of Teachers) Act 2005, employers have to confirm a teacher is approved before engaging them in any teaching role. That includes people teaching under Permission to Teach as well as registered teachers.
A teacher can be fully registered, having met all the requirements, provisionally registered while they work towards full registration, or hold Permission to Teach. Supervision, dates and placement decisions are different for each, so knowing which one you’re dealing with matters.
Full registration is renewed every five years and stays current while the annual fee is paid. If the fee isn’t paid, the College must give notice, and cancel the registration if it’s still unpaid by the due day. On our monitored plans, we monitor the register every month and let you know about a lapse, including for teachers already on staff. On the Verified plan, it’s a point-in-time verification you can re-run whenever you choose.
Queensland registration can lapse between five-yearly renewals if the annual fee isn’t paid. On the monitored plans, Kinatico Compliance monitors the register every month and alerts you to a lapse.
