How registration works in the Northern Territory 

Every teacher working in a Northern Territory school must hold current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory under the Teacher Registration (Northern Territory) Act 2004. It’s an offence to employ an unregistered teacher in a teaching role, and the employer must confirm registration before a teacher starts. 

Full registration is granted for five years, but the annual fee must be paid by 31 December for the teacher to stay registered the following year. Registration can be full or provisional, and supervision and placement decisions follow from which.
