How it works

What you’ll need

What you get back

  • No record found.

  • A record found, with the full detail of the administration.

Where a record exists, the result includes the type and date of the administration or proceeding, the record number, the full name and any alias, the address, date of birth, occupation and business name, particulars of any prior or subsequent listing, and the end date of the administration.

Why bankruptcy history matters for some roles

Bankruptcy can disqualify a person from holding a position of trust or taking on managerial responsibility, and an undischarged bankrupt is automatically disqualified from managing a corporation. For those roles, it’s a question of eligibility.

The National Personal Insolvency Index goes back to 1928, so a bankruptcy discharged decades ago is still visible where it’s relevant. Records from before December 1996 may be incomplete.

You get detail rather than a flag, so you can judge what a record means for the role. It suits accountants, chief financial officers, directors, loan officers, mortgage insurers, fund managers and any role with financial authority or a fiduciary duty.
